Etenesh Wondmagegnehu is a dedicated social worker and the Executive Director of Berhan Lehetsanat, an NGO focused on the inclusion of children with disabilities in Ethiopia. Born in Hagereselam, she initially aimed for a nursing career before shifting her focus to social work, obtaining a BA from Addis Ababa University in 1980. Etenesh has been instrumental in initiating Community Based Rehabilitation in rural Ethiopia, supported by international organizations like UNICEF, ILO, and WHO. Under her leadership, Berhan Lehetsanat operates in several regions, reaching over 13,668 children and youth, focusing on education, disability support, and income generation programs. Beyond her NGO work, Etenesh has played a pivotal role in policy formulation, educational reforms, and empowering women and young girls. Her commitment to community service is widely recognized, earning her awards and praise for her tireless dedication to improving lives and advocating for inclusive development.
